Paul Zauner’s Inntöne Jazz Festival, which has taken place at his farmhouse for eight years already, was also able to realize particularly ambitious projects this year, such as the “Acknowledgement Suite” of drummer Doug Hammond in a tentet format, through the cooperation with Linz 09. In the seven parts of the piece, he paid tribute to people who were essential in his maturing into a jazz musician. For instance, the trombonist Julian Priester or pianist Kirk Lightsey, who also performed with him. “Rose Sister,” dedicated to his mother, turned out to be especially intensive.
